Doctoroo and the Case of the Red Hot Hawaiians is a book in the Doctoroo series created by Dr. Rachel B. Wellner and illustrated by Irina Dringova. The book begins with Dr. Marsha Roo, Terence Toad, and Kirby Koala playing rugby at their home in Australia. Suddenly, Louie Llama calls Dr. Marsha Roo to tell her that she received a message on his phone. It was a call for help and Dr. Marsha Roo turns into Doctoroo! Now, Doctoroo and her team have to fuel their plane because the call for help came from Hawaii. In Hawaii, Gertie Goose told Doctoroo that her dancers, three young pigs, were suffering from mysterious symptoms. Their bodies turned red, hot, and itchy. Terence jokingly called them the red-hot Hawaiians. Jokes aside, Doctoroo and her team still need to find the cause of these symptoms and cure them. They would need to climb a volcano, go into the rainforest, and encounter a local spider. Would they discover the cause of the red-hot Hawaiians in time for the festival? Get ready to KICK and SPARKLE with Doctoroo to find out.

What I liked the most about this book is its aim at teaching children healthy habits. In this book, Doctoroo and her team explore the many causes of skin disease. Such as allergy, irritation, insect bite, and sunburn. The book also teaches the way to prevent it in such a fun way that children would definitely practice. The steps are written in the form of a song accompanied by an adorable illustration. The teamwork of Doctoroo and her team is also an important highlight. No matter how tiring the job was, they stayed together until it was done. The author and the illustrator did a wonderful job of teaching children these important lessons.

The story is very imaginative and fun. I like how Doctoroo and her team went all out to find the cause of the red-hot Hawaiians. They literally climb a volcano to rule out one of the causes. The simple and easy-to-read words the author uses are very helpful for children to understand the story. The illustrations are also incredible. The characters are colorful, funny, and adorable. Children would still know the story from seeing the pictures even if they were unable to read. They could even make up their own story from it. Either way, children will definitely have fun with this book.

I gladly rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I have nothing to dislike about this book. There are also no errors or typos. This book is exceptionally well-edited. All of that and the fact that I enjoyed this book so much is the reason I give this book a high rating.

I recommend this book to children between 8 – 10 years old. Younger children could also enjoy the book with the help of their parents. Educational institutions such as kindergartens or schools could also use this book to educate their students about healthy habits.

The motivation for climbing a volcano escapes me. In order to learn why Doctoroo and her crew did what they did, I may decide to read this book. Excellent review, thank you.
