Not too long ago, the world a nation split into two. Those two nations are now called North Korea and South Korea. These two nations, which used to be one, have very different values and cultures now. Although the pain that was caused to either side by their actions has not totally gone away, both nations have been trying to be at peace. They have done so successfully by engaging in friendly games and amicable talks over the years. One such game is the cooking competition that they hold on an annual basis. Inca heard that Missy, her owner, was selected to be a judge for the upcoming cooking game. She was excited about this news, not entirely because Missy was bestowed with such an honor, but because she would get to experience life in both South and North Korea. As expected, Inca would not be going alone. Fromage, her brother, and other members of her little furry group were accompanying her. This group of furry pets was in for a big surprise. Will they be able to overcome the challenges that will come their way in the two Korean nations?

Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a very short novel about Inca, the Siberian cat, and her escapades in the Korean peninsula. Just like every other book I have seen written by R.F. Kristi, Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula was written from Inca’s perspective. That was expected since this book, just like all the others, is Inca’s personal diary. I did not hate this fact about this book at all. It was very cute to see the idea of a cat I have grown to love, even though she is wholly fictional. It makes me look at my cat differently (like a hero who likes to act indifferent to my every action).

Before I get into the good parts of this review, let me first make my recommendations. I recommend Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula to young readers from five years to twelve who adore pets. My recommendation does not go out to just the little ones. Older readers who have one or more pets and love them to the high heavens should also read this book. It talks about what house pets can accomplish when they put their minds to it.

I will now focus on two things in this paragraph. The first thing is my favorite (or most liked) positive aspect I saw in/about this book. That would be how simple the story was. The beauty of this is that even though the story was short, simple, and straight to the point, it was also interesting and educational. I was amused to discover that I learned so much about Korean history from a book that was primarily written for young readers. The second thing I will address is whether or not Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula have any negative aspects. Thankfully, it did not. It was perfect in every way, and I am glad to say I did not dislike anything in or about it.

Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula was edited professionally. It was both educational and interesting. All these things made it a perfect book. I cannot dislike anything about a perfect book. That is why I rate it five out of five stars.
