The experiences of the Miller kids are chronicled in Catherine Anna Pepe's children's book Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures. Mary Grace Miller, 10, lives in Kansas with her parents, Donny, 5, who has Down syndrome, and their other siblings. The Millers are a wholesome, content family that get along well with one another. The decision of Mary Grace's parents to spend two years as missionaries in Kenya, Africa, however, causes things to shift. As a result, Mary Grace and her brother will have to travel to California to live with their grandparents while waiting for her parents to come home. Mary Grace is devastated by the news and thinks it's the worst thing that could have happened to them.

I was expecting for the main narrative to pick up, however the book started off quite slowly. I thought the author spent a great deal of time describing how amazing the Miller family relationship was .
Last but not least, I give Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure 5 stars out of 5. It was well-narrated and engaging. it  also explores the issues of bullying while highlighting the negative effects of bad behavior.
