Great-Aunt Rita gifts her nephew, Jake, a special dinosaur toy on his birthday. The toy is said to be special because it can walk and talk. Jake is excited over the gift and wastes no time playing with the toy. However, the toy does not show any sign of life, let alone the ability to walk or talk.

A particular exercise gets the toy working, but that soon opens up another, far more worrisome development. Jake will have to take some decisive actions because even an eventual solution is only temporary.

Roarasaurus: The Roaring Soaring Dinosaur! is a children's book written by Great-Aunt Rita (and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber. The book covers a couple of positive values that are essential for children's personal growth and development.

The power of love and affection is the dominant theme in this story, which is developed through Great-Aunt Rita and the dinosaur toy. Readers will be amazed to read about how the dinosaur toy eventually "agrees" to quit soaring and roaring.

Mike Sofka did a nice job illustrating this storybook. The paintings are beautiful, and they capture relevant aspects of the story. I very much liked the painting on page 23. It captures a very important theme in this story. The word choices made in this story are simple and appropriate.

Children will learn some practical lessons from Elina, Jake, Great-Aunt Rita, the dinosaur toy, and Jake's mother. For example, they will see kind deeds paying off with such an affectionate name as "Grandma-Aunt Rita" and teamwork yielding such a positive output as this book I'm reviewing.

I don't have anything to complain about with this book. It is thoroughly edited. I did not find any grammatical errors in it. Hence, I am glad to rate it five out of five stars based on the positive points I highlighted in the above paragraphs. There is no reason to remove any stars from the rating.

I recommend this book to children between five and nine years old. This is a true-life story that should teach them the essential values of life and living. Older readers should also enjoy it, given that the themes explored in this book are invaluable.
