It was Jake’s birthday, and like any ordinary child, Jake was going to celebrate growing older. Great-aunt Rita needed to get him a gift for his celebration, so she went shopping. Whilst doing her shopping, she stumbled upon the toy aisle where she saw many great playthings. A large, green dinosaur caught her interest. She snatched it from the shelf and headed to the counter to pay for it. The man at the counter said that the dinosaur was a special toy, but Great-aunt Rita didn't know just how special the dinosaur was.

Roarasaurus by Great-aunt Rita shows us what happened when Jake received the special toy. The book was written "with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber." Based on a true story, the choice to name the characters after their real-life counterparts was a nice little touch. Even I as an adult felt some excitement after I noticed the similarities.

I think that the story is potentially repeatable because it's extremely short. I can see a young child begging to have the story reread multiple times. I think that the story is entertaining. The combination of a toy and a little boy as the main characters is a winning combination in my eyes.

I just feel that an opportunity to make the story more interactive was missed. I wish that the use of sound could have been added to the writing to help the readers of the book act out certain moments. When the batteries were placed inside the toy, the use of the sound the batteries made when they clicked into place could have added a cool dimension to the storytelling.

With that said, I don't see any reason not to rate this tiny book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. It's almost faultless, and it was edited exceptionally well.

I think that children as young as three years could enjoy this book. I think that children up to the age of 7 may find the story enjoyable. Beyond that age, I think that children gravitate towards more challenging reading material.
