There's nothing like a good song to kick off the summer and make you feel like a kid again. Set in the jungle in the middle of June, Elephant’s Jungle Tune by Doug Beisley introduces us to a new tune that was accidentally formed by an elephant while he walked. As he stomped and stamped his feet, a steady beat was produced. The giraffe who was eating leaves introduced the crunching sound, the swinging monkey screeched by swinging from a tree, and the tiger swished her tail. The jungle quickly comes alive as all the other animals, from the rhino and bear to the birds and insects, contribute to this jungle tune. Pick up a copy of this book to join these delightful characters in their song; you may also contribute your sound to make it more complete.

At just thirty pages in length, the book was a concise and fun read. For music lovers like myself, I was impressed to see how the author introduced different sounds animals make when carrying out normal activities, like walking, eating, scratching, or swinging, and creatively incorporated those sounds into a song. Children will not only get to learn about these sounds but also have fun joining the parade.

When a lot of people think about the jungle, it is easy to remember how dangerous it can be as well as the wild animals that fight to be at the top of the food chain. Nonetheless, the author has employed these jungle characters to highlight what can be achieved when fierce competitors come and work together. This was one of the key lessons I picked up from the book, and it is one that I believe will greatly benefit children.

Another highlight of the book revolves around the illustrations employed. I must appreciate the author for executing this aspect flawlessly, as this is something that the main audience of this book will enjoy. He has employed colorful and cartoonish characters in the book, and he did well to express the joy on the faces of these characters as they play out the elephant's jungle tune. I will say that the illustrations bring the story and song to life perfectly.

Furthermore, Doug Beisley's Elephant’s Jungle Tune is an exceptionally well-edited book. I did not find any errors in the text, even though there were not a lot of words on the pages. I also cannot point to any aspect of the book I did not like. The book incorporates all the elements that make up a fantastic children's book while providing a healthy dose of fun. I rate this read five out of five stars. Children between the ages of three and eight who like animals will enjoy this book the most.

I love how good you are with words. It’s interesting. I’ll really love to pick this storybook up sometime. Children will definitely love this. I guess the song was just in sounds alone without wordings.
