Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula
I have read several books about animals being helpers to superheroes but, I have not encountered a book about an animal heading a group of detectives.
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a book that centres on a group of animals who fight crimes. Inca is the head of this crime-fighting company. They live with their human mom, Missy. Missy is a chef. She was invited to be one of the judges in a cooking competition in South Korea. When the news got to the animals, they were excited to visit another country as they had never been to that part of the world before. But what happens when their human mom’s cheese gets missing? Who was the culprit behind the theft? Was this special delicacy found? And how did their visit to South Korea turn out to be?

R.F. Kristi did an excellent job of writing this book. I was interested in the moral lessons embedded in this book. The book contained several themes like cooperation and looking out for each other. This book was also educative. The author gave some information about Siberian tigers. The book opened with an illustration of a family tree. The author’s use of beautiful diagrams further enhanced the beauty of this book. The characters were well-developed. I picked an interest in Inca. I considered him quite intelligent and curious, which he does not fail to point out in the book. It was endearing how Inca described his relationship with his siblings and owner, as it shows support and admiration for each other. These characteristics can make a child want to own a cat or a dog.
The plot was also straightforward, though I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as predictable as I expected. The realistic outlook the author was trying to create is commendable. It was evident in the bond between the owners and the animals.
I found nothing to dislike in this book. I also found no errors in this book, so it is safe to say that it was exceptionally well-edited. Therefore, a rating of 5 out of 5 stars is in place.
I recommend this book to kids from the age of 4. It would also serve as a good bedtime storybook.
