The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Post by Erasmus_Folly »

I am guessing that many of you might have read The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It is a story has been beloved by millions. The author disappeared during a reconnaissance flight during WWII and that has been a mystery ever since, rivaling that of Amelia Earhart. The following story appeared in this morning's New York Times and may be of interest:

One must think like a hero merely to behave like a decent human being.

I've read it so many times, it's by far one of my favourite books. I own it in both French and English, but I prefer reading it in French.

This is absolutely my most favorite book in the whole wide world. It was written with such depth and reflection yet it was all put in simple words that even grown-ups are able to understand it.

I've read this book a countless number of times yet I know for a fact I will never ever tire of the Little Prince that would ask so many questions but never answer any of yours. It's the first book that always seems to cheer me up whenever I am sad, or whenever I am feeling down or confused about my life, this book somehow helps me find the answer. I can't really put it into words on exactly how, but I guess it just has that kind of magic about it. A true masterpiece.

Oh, The Little Prince :)
One of my favourite quotes comes from this book:

Men have forgotten this truth but you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

I love The Little Prince. It is my favorite book. What a burden that German pilot must have been carrying all these years!

Sadly, I don't think there is any mystery about it, he simply died somewhere along the flight. On the other hand, it is nice that his passing was so... unorthodox.

The Little Prince is one of the most memorable books I have ever read and it is a children's book. I read it for the first time for a class in high school and it soon became one of my favorites even as a young adult. It has so much depth and meaning that is masked so gracefully by the innocent nature of the work and almost every line meant so much to me. Many of the lines have become some of my favorite quotes. I love this story and I plan to continue to read it and learn from it as I get older.

What do you think of this story? Did you read it as a child? Do you or will you read it to your kids?

This book is made for children but written for adults. There is so much life lesson that you will learn from this book. Its very inspiring and sad at the same time. 'till this day the story is stuck in my head and every time I watched the sunsets, it always reminds me of a particular line from this book.

I read this book (in French) for one of my college French classes. It is such a beautiful story that is so simple and yet so... not. It has always stuck with me, despite the fact that I read it 13+ years ago.

I love this book! Now that I'm reading it at an older age, I can get a lot more out of it. I'm glad I was introdced to it at a young age, though.
