For young readers who want to experience Korean culture through the eyes of the Inca Cat Detective group, Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a fantastic novel. This is the tale of some cats, a dog, and some people who go to South Korea for a baking competition. To reconcile another cat with her former friend, the animals cross the border covertly. Along the journey, there are a few mysteries to be solved.

The characters in this book are sensible and sympathetic, and I found it to be culturally enlightening. I found myself learning more about the culture as a result of the author's inclusion of some unique cultural references between North and South Korea. All the animals and people in this novel have unique personalities and emotions that the author has expertly conveyed. It is simpler for the intended audience because of the brief length. The story has a straightforward but captivating premise and a tender innocence. The illustrations were good, and I thought they went nicely with the plot. I enjoyed how vividly the author depicted the cherry blossoms, making me feel as though I was there with the characters. Although this book is one of a series, I enjoy that it can be read on its own. Because the author described everything clearly, I didn't have any trouble keeping up with the material from the prior volumes. I found the narrative to be entertaining since it has moral teachings about family, teamwork, and peace.

I found no errors at all; the editing was done quite professionally. There was nothing in the book that I did not like. The illustrations in the book immediately attract the reader's attention and keep them reading.

I give R.F. Kristi's Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula five out of five stars because it was enjoyable to read. I enjoyed being able to learn a few Korean terms as well. I appreciated the book's multicultural flair, which included allusions to French cuisine and exotic creatures. The humor was great throughout. I did not find a reason to lower my rating by one star.

It was fun to read, I must say. I enjoyed learning a few Korean words. Even though this is a children's book, I think people of all ages should read it. Children would find the graphics fascinating, and they properly depict the plot. I would recommend this book to kids between the ages of 7 and 12.
