Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula
R.F. Kristi's work, titled Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula, is a novella about Inca's escapades in South Korea. Inca is a brilliant detective. She is also a cat. She lived to solve complex cases and rescue people and things. Despite being a hero in her own right, she never let her success get to her head. She is also very compassionate. I was not surprised to learn that the first thing Inca did when she arrived in South Korea was to attempt to console Bo-Mi. Bo-Mi is a dog who played host to Inca and her family during their stay in South Korea. She had lost contact with a friend of hers because that friend was whisked away to North Korea. No day passes that Bo-Mi does not long to see her friend again. Instead of simply providing words of encouragement and a shoulder to cry on, Inca decided to go rescue Bo-Mi's friend. That meant she had to cross the border and go into North Korea. Will she be successful in her attempt to put a smile on Bo-Mi's face?
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a short book. Despite having a little more than 100 pages, it enlightened me about the feud between South Korea and North Korea that caused many heartaches for millions of people. A quick search proved that the information about the events that took place before and after both nations split was historically accurate. One wonderful fact is that reading this book made me aware of the existence of a demilitarized zone that separates North Korea from South Korea. I was also blown away by the many facts that R.F. Kristi included in the book about the two nations. These facts made the story worth reading.
The illustrations and pictures in Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula made the book come to life. They were beautiful and added visual narration to the story. They showed me the things that Inca saw and the places she went to. They also told stories about the two nations' past. These pictures are my favorite things in the book.
There is not a thing that I can speak ill of in this novella. It was edited professionally, and the whole story was captivating. I enjoyed staring at the pictures and liked the facts that R.F. Kristi shared with me. I loved the way it was written. It was written in the form of a diary. That means the story was presented in an informal manner, which I immensely enjoyed. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula gets a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me. I am sure you're not surprised that I gave it the highest possible rating. If you are wondering why I decided to do that, I will tell you why. I did that because I did not dislike a single thing about this novella.
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is a novella that readers aged four to ten will love reading. I also recommend it to cat owners and lovers. Inca is a cat, so it is no surprise that people with cats as their pets will enjoy reading this book. My last recommendation goes to readers who have always wondered about South Korea and North Korea. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula will not give you an in-depth explanation of what transpired between those two nations. That does not mean that much cannot be learned from the book about them.
