I constantly read to my young son and would like some ideas on books that will teach him manners at an early age!

I'm sorry I can't help with suggestions, but it reminds me that my Mum never let me forget that when I was given some chocolate and neglected to say thank you to the donor, she prompted 'what's the magic word?' and I replied, Abracadabra...

There are several good books depending on the age of your son, but one I like to use with my kindergarten class is "Why Should I Share" by Claire Llewellyn and published by Scholastic Inc.
I believe she has a whole series of these "Why Should I?" books, though the sharing one is the only one I've read. Hope that helps!

As a previous preschool teacher, there were topics neccessary to discuss with my students and manners were definitely one of those topics. I always incorporated the book, Marth Doesn't Say Sorry, by Samantha Berger when disucssing manners. My students loved this book and quickly understood which circumstances required an apology due to poor decisions and which actions were appropriate actions to take with other members of our families. I would suggest this book to you in addition to other books you may have chosen about manners.

Some newer books that do well with tackling manners are the Llama Llama books. They do a lot of social manners lessons (dealing with bullies, starting a new school, being kind to others, being a good friend, etc) that I find very useful for teaching positive behaviors.
