Miss Hattie's Amazing Garden was written by Shannon Richardson. Everything was going fine in Miss Hattie's garden, until all of the flowers didn't want any other creatures surrounding them. It was one thing after another. Either the bees were too heavy for the flowers, the frog was too clumsy, and so on. The flowers seemed to have forgotten that each creature played a part in the garden. When autumn comes along, and they aren't the center of attention anymore, they learn their lesson and realize what happens when you let pride get in the way.

I thought this was such an adorable book. All of the creatures were fun and creative. The book had a poetic flow to it that will be a joy for children to read. This book has many different lessons that children can benefit from. It teaches children not to be selfish, the benefits of working together as a community, and most importantly, being kind to one another. For example, the flowers were very selfish when they wanted all of the other creatures to stay away from them. The flowers believed that they were the most important thing in the garden. However, they began to realize that their beauty was fading as seasons changed, and how much they needed the other creatures to live.

There were a few words in the books that could be considered complicated for young children. However, the author made up for it by adding a glossary to the ending explaining what each of those words mean. Otherwise I don't really have anything bad to say about the book. There were maybe two grammatical errors throughout the entire book and that was it.

I would highly recommend this book to others. I think parents will enjoy reading this to their children, and the parents will enjoy reading it as well. This is the type of book that you will want to read to your children at night in order to put them to sleep with happy thoughts. It has a positive message, and it teaches them about how nature works in the process. This would also be the perfect book to teach children how to read with, and you can teach them how to use a glossary as well. It will challenge their minds and they will have fun in the process.

I give Miss Hattie's Amazing Garden 4 out of 4 stars. I gave it the highest score because it is really a book that serves multiple purposes. It teaches kids good lessons, morals, and facts about nature. It was enjoyable to read, which is why I didn't think it deserved a lower score.
