[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Dragon Who Didn't Breathe Fire" by Monica Venturi.]

The Dragon Who Didn't Breathe Fire by Monica Venturi is a children’s book about dragons. John the dragon was mocked by his fellow dragons because he couldn't breathe fire. The meeting was called by the Elder dragon of Dragoncity, who told John, much to his chagrin, that he has only 24 hours left in which to use his fire breath. If he is successful, he will be knighted and revered across the lands; otherwise, he will be exiled and forced to leave the city. Can John master fire breathing in time, or will he be banished from the city?

The illustrations are fun, and kids will enjoy the book. John encountered many difficulties and received little assistance on his quest to master fire breathing. There are no important life lessons for your child to learn in this book; it is merely a story meant to inspire the imagination of young readers.

I didn't like the way the other dragons treated John. I worry that kids will read that and conclude that being different is bad. The occasional pause between sentences was frustrating to me. As a result, the words in the middle of the sentence will move to the beginning of the following sentence.

I appreciated John's determination in the face of his friend's betrayal. It was satisfying to see what happened to the creatures who were trying to sabotage John.

I gave this book a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars because I believe young children will enjoy it. Especially those who enjoy quests and adventure. While the book's entertaining content made for a pleasant reading experience, the frequent sentence fragmentation took away from the flow of the narrative. In spite of that, I still think this book is deserving of a full rating.

Kids under 9 who are dragon fans will enjoy this book, especially the parts where the dragon goes on adventures.

John the little dragon. It could really be hard for him to prove his breathing fire. I wonder what could become of him within the limit hours given to him. Amazing review.

"I like how the Dragon tried to change himself for the sake of others and not accepting who he was and what he had and didn't have and couldn't change. This led to a conclusion of him accepting himself and I found very empowering especially for young children who a still trying to find themselves."

It sounds like a good book to teach children to navigate their differences. I hope the outcome was a success for John and that children can learn lessons from this book. The sentence structure sounds a bit odd. Thank you for your review.
