Books for Benjamin by R.G. de Rouen is a children's book. Behind a grocery store, where the store owner keeps his garbage, lives a worm family. Although Benjamin comes from a family of worms that enjoyed a wide variety of rotten food, he is content to read whatever he can salvage from the garbage. Benjamin didn't want to read any more dirty newspapers from the trash, so he set off on an adventure to discover some books and, hopefully, meet some new friends.

The illustrations are fantastic; they're different from anything else out there and are sure to captivate young readers. Because even a worm enjoys reading, this book shows kids that books can be entertaining. Many different kinds of bugs come into play to aid Benjamin, and by identifying them, kids can get a better grasp on the insect world. In addition, the book introduces youngsters to the wonders of libraries, an experience that many modern youngsters may never have had due to the popularity of digital media.

There was nothing I disliked about the book.

I liked the author's clever use of the copyright symbol as the worm's signature, and I found it ingenious. He included what the copyright symbol means at the end of the book so that parents could teach their children its true meaning.

I thought the fact that the author made the worm go on an adventure and make friends while searching for more books was a nice touch. As an added bonus, you can encourage interaction with your child by asking him or her to find the worm on the page.

This book is fantastic and deserves 5 out of 5 stars because it can inspire a child who has no interest in reading to pick up a book and start enjoying it. I think kids will enjoy the illustrations and the story about the worm's adventures. The book was expertly edited, and I thought the ending was satisfying.

If you have a young child who enjoys reading or whom you would like to persuade to read, I think he or she would enjoy this book.
