Being different is not easy, especially in today's society. This fact is especially true for children because they are subject to their environment and mainly observe the behavior of adults. Yes Because I Am Mixed by Dan Abramson is a children's book that provides daily affirmations for mixed-race kids and their carers.

This short book is a picture book that contains a different affirmation and motivation for mixed-race children on each page, encouraging and empowering them. In the background of each page, there is an image that is thematically related to the given affirmation. In addition, there are also illustrations of various people and children of mixed race.

I appreciated the concept of this book. It is always useful to remind people that they are valuable regardless of where they come from, who they are, and what they are. Children of mixed race are a particularly vulnerable group here because they can often be the object of bullying. That is exactly why I think all children should be taught to respect everyone equally. In addition, the illustrations of the people depicted are very interesting and unusual. I believe the author specifically wanted to achieve some unique effect with those illustrations on people of mixed-race identity. Likewise, the affirmations are short but powerful, beautiful, and uplifting.

As for some elements that I didn't like, there aren't many of them. Nevertheless, I don't like the overall design of the book. It doesn't seem professionally assembled. I think the book's layout could have been more engaging, and the illustrations and text could have been arranged more interestingly. Everything seems too simple. Likewise, the book lacks a dose of creativity and uniqueness. As for the quality of the editing, I encountered only some minor errors, so the book seems well edited.

Overall, I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. The concept is good, but the book has a lot of potential for development in each element. I would recommend it primarily to all people of mixed race, but also to all those who are different on any basis. This book can provide quality encouragement and daily affirmations that are worth reading.

Parents need to teach children to be respectful irrespective of race/mix-race individuals, especially their co-children. I appreciate the author's intention in writing this book, and I hope the negative aspects will be edited for kids to fully enjoy this book. Thanks for your honest review!

I think a lot should be put on concerning mixed race especially when it comes to schools. It's quite challenging most times among peers.
