Review of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures
Donny and Mary Grace's adventure in California is a wonderful christian book for children, about a detail oriented Mary Grace Miller who was ten years old, and her younger brother, Donny Miller –a cheerful child with down syndrome, who was five years old. Mary Grace and Donny–together with their parents, Mr. Miller and Mrs. Miller, lived happily in Wichita, Kansas. School was to resume a week after an incident at a zoo in Wichita, Kansas where Donny got lost, and was later found unhurt. When school resumed everything was fine, not until Mr. Miller and Mrs. Miller broke a big news to Mary Grace and Donny, that they would have to go to a faraway country in Africa to do something important for a long time, while Mary Grace and Donny would move from Kansas city to California to stay with their grandparents. Would Mary Grace's new adventurous experience in California be fun?. As she joined the famous Grandma Gang, and always looked out for Donny and solved mysteries, while she was still missing Kansas and trying to fit in as the new kid at school in California.
I love this book because of the main characters, Mary Grace, a little girl who was so smart and able to overcome challenges as a grown up would, and Donny, her younger brother, who was so light hearted and had a big smile on his face most of the time, despite being a child with down syndrome, he was able to keep a friend, love his family and also his grandparents' dog.
Catherine Anna Pepe's Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures is a well written and impeccably formulated book without any negativity as its crucial character – Donny, is based partially on the author's real life sibling. It has changed my perception of people with down syndrome and their capabilities, the same way it would obviously change the readers' too.
I would rate this exceptionally amazing book by Catherine Anna Pepe– who worked enthusiastically for an international law firm where she became the first woman partner in the Labor and Employment practice group, 5 out of 5 stars which is well deserved.
I would love to recommend that children within the ages of 4 to 13 years– or older, who love new experiences and solving mysteries read Catherine A. Pepe's Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures because they would say, " This is the best book of my life!", as Donny says," This is the best day of my life!".
