Unicorns Know Magic is a delightful and imaginative children’s picture book written by Charles T. Adkins and illustrated by Ros Webb. It chronicles the adventures that two young siblings embark on with their new unicorn neighbors. Each page contains a beautiful sweeping illustration to accompany the text. These pictures have bright colors and a whimsical art style, so children will surely be captivated.

The story itself is structured in an easily digestible way, making it perfect for children who are just learning to read, or for parents and teachers looking for a story to read to their kids. The unicorns accompany the siblings to France and England, so readers will get a small taste of life in other countries. Additionally, the unicorns appear in school as well, which could be useful in helping little ones get excited about academic adventures. The unicorns also exhibit noble tendencies, such as kindness and helpfulness, setting great role models for impressionable readers.

My favorite thing about this book was the rhyme scheme. The text reads like a nursery rhyme, but it lasts long enough to encompass a fully fleshed-out story. I imagine reading this book out loud would be loads of fun for reader and audience alike.

I could only find a single borderline error, leading me to believe this book has been professionally edited and formatted. I have no suggestions for revision, it is so charming and polished as it is. I suppose it might be helpful for new readers if the text was a bit larger on the page, as it might be difficult to read for kids still learning how to read.

For all the previously mentioned reasons, I rate this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone trying to foster a love of reading in young children, or for teachers and other people who work with kids looking for a fun and engaging activity.
