Spiker the Jumping Spider Learns about Joy by J. M. Ashmore is a children’s book that presents the adventures of Spiker, Crispin, Sully, and Gerry while they learn the true meaning of joy. In the beginning, we are introduced to Spiker, a jumping spider, and Crispin, a cricket, who loved holding contests to see who jumped further. As time passes, they go on new adventures that teach them that joy can be found in everything, like the perfect spot for eating under the peach tree or the feathers under the bird nest where they were hiding from the storm. Time passes, and Sully, a light blue spider, and Gerry, a grasshopper, join them on the journey to finding joy. What adventures will the four friends find themselves on?

One of the aspects that I liked about the book is its positive message about finding joy in everything and appreciating every moment with your friends. For example, when the four of them gathered together when Gerry’s knee was hurt. I also liked the educational side of the book. Throughout the story and especially at the end of the book, the author provides numerous interesting facts about jumping spiders and crickets.

I could not find any negative aspects to complain about. The text is written in a manner that is easy to read and understand; it is educational and also interactive with the introduction of "Story Questions and Answers" at the end of the book.

While reading the book, I noticed that it was exceptionally well edited. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I give this rating because I could not find anything to complain about; the story was captivating and full of interesting facts concerning spiders and crickets, and the illustrations were beautiful.

I recommend this book to any child, parent, or family member who wants to better understand or teach the meaning of joy through an educational and fun story about spiders, crickets, and grasshoppers.
