Review of Doctoroo and the Case of the Red Hot Hawaiians
Dr. Rachel Wellner is back once again with another story in her famous Doctoroo book series named Doctoroo and the Case of the Red Hot Hawaiians. Dr. Marsha Roo (aka Doctoroo) is called on by Gertie Goose in Hawaii to solve a mystery. Doctoroo’s trusted assistants in medicine are alongside her on the flight from their home in Australia to Hawaii.
It’s always a good time when anyone picks up a Doctoroo book because she teaches the children life lessons about health. For those that don’t know, she’s a kangaroo who travels around the world solving mystery medical conditions. In this book, Gertie needs help finding out why the dancers at this upcoming festival in Hawaii are having these reactions that could forbid them from dancing in the festival. Will Doctoroo and her team be able to find out the cause before the big event? You’ll have to get the book to find out.
As mentioned earlier, Doctoroo has three friends/medical assistants who are always by her side during her travels: Kirby Koala, Terence Toad, and Louie Llama. These characters are lively and showcase what true collaboration and support can do when everyone comes together for a common goal. I love the friendship aspect between these four; children can learn from this.
Even though this is a children’s book, it has a couple of advanced terminology throughout that too young of age would not understand. I believe kids ages 7 to 9 will be best suited for this story. This is the right age frame for kids because they may experience the same thing the hula dancers went through. Irina Dringova is the illustrator of these beautiful drawings that are appealing to the eye and that kids will enjoy thoroughly.
I’m giving this story a high rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This exceptionally well-edited book is free of spelling and grammar errors. The story kept me captivated and made me feel part of the team. There’s nothing I disliked when reading this story.
