This book is written by Catherine Anna Pepe that tells the story of Mary Grace, a ten-year-old girl, and her younger brother Donny, who has Down Syndrome. The book follows their adventures during the time they spent in California with their grandparents, while their parents were away. The story is engaging and focuses on the experiences of the siblings during their time in California.

The character Donnie is based on the author's real life brother Donald . Due to the invention of lifesaving miracle drugs that were invented after World War II, Donnie was in a group of babies born with Down Syndrome to survive infancy.

Mary Grace is very sad when she learns that her parents are leaving for Kenya, and that her and her brother will be staying with their grandparents. Donnie is his usual happy self learning about his parents travels to Kenya. All Mary Grace could think about was leaving her friends and starting over in California. The explores the adventures the siblings go on and if they will be able to adjust to their new environment.

I feel very strongly about the way this book handled a case of bullying at Mary Grace's new school. Because of my career in a classroom of students with special needs, I appreciate the way the book gives special care too this subject.

Being an adult reading this book I wasn't sure what I'd find but this is definitely a book adults will enjoy. Not only is this book about Mary Grace and Donny, readers will for sure love what they learn about their grandma and the grandma gang.

There are many great parts in this book and because of this I rated it five out of five stars. This book did not have any grammatical or spelling errors and I did not find anything to dislike about this book.
