In the book WIND, by Ellen Dee Davidson, the main character Katie goes on a rather interesting adventure after falling through a crack in the floor of her home due to an earthquake. She finds herself in a dark space, assuming she is in the basement of her house, but soon discovers she is no longer home. She meets an unusual creature named Za and they attempt to find their way back home together. They have a difficult time getting along and working together, but they find out that they must work as a team and complete an important quest to get home. Two very different individuals from two different worlds, Katie and Za meet some challenges they must try to overcome together to complete their quest. On their journey, they meet various characters and venture through various environments such as caves, swamps, and fairylands to name a few all in an attempt to reach their destination. During their expedition, they must face their inner weaknesses, highlight their strengths, and rely on each other to succeed in the enormous mission. Whether they meet their goal or not, will be up to them.

I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars, as I found it very entertaining and in my opinion, only had positive viewpoints of this read. It was well edited as I did not recognize any spelling or grammatical errors while reading and it is an appropriate story for middle school-aged children to adults. Davidson brings this story to life through a vast array of figurative language. When reading this narrative, the words allow you to imagine yourself amongst the characters as if you are there on the journey with them. I truly enjoyed the plot of this story. It was well-developed and very detailed. The characters are very unique in their own way. Even though the story is geared towards adolescent children, adults can appreciate the fantasy aspect of this creative writing piece. Therefore, I would recommend this book to individuals ages 12 and up.
