When his younger brother goes missing, Mary Grace Miller becomes distraught; Donny is right there by their parents when she returns to the penguin exhibit to grab his beloved blanket. She is aware that children are not safe at the zoo, especially her Down syndrome brother. How will Mary Grace locate Donny if her folks are right when they believe she has a talent for solving mysteries? How will she decide how to deal with problems like this as they appear if they are presented to her? In Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure, written by Catherine A. Pepe, a little girl who is intelligent and humorous goes on excursions while caring for her brother, who has special needs.

The characters are endearing and have a great sense of humour. Additionally, the personalities and behaviours of the characters were relatable; many girls would be able to identify with Mary Grace and her companions. She had the most appealing demeanour to me; her maturity at such a young age was admirable.

The Miller family's concern for one another was endearing, and the author's superb prose immediately transported me to whatever they were doing. Young readers would undoubtedly benefit from this book because the author aims to instil many positive attitudes in them. Children's novels typically teach moral principles, and this one did not fall short. Young readers' critical thinking abilities would also be improved because the plot featured solving riddles or issues.

The book told a tale about a genetic illness, but it was seen positively; it gave readers the chance to learn more about Down syndrome and how to interact with others who had it. Bullying was also addressed, which was a delicate and pertinent topic. The author's legal background gave her handling of the situation legitimacy. I found it particularly admirable how Pepe developed original, realistic solutions to the issues that each character encountered. It was clear that the author had a sense of humour since I smiled and laughed while reading her account.

The book is both educational and interesting. The few grammatical mistakes did not interfere with a pleasant reading experience, which made me think it had been carefully proofread. I, therefore, rate Catherine A. Pepe's Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure as 5 out of 5 stars.

Although it is a children's book, I believe it is appropriate for all ages because of the moral lessons it teaches. Look elsewhere if you enjoy complicated or engaging stories. I didn't come across grammatical errors. There was nothing to dislike in this book.
