Donny and Mary Grace are siblings who live with their parents in Wichita, Kansas, and have had a lot of fun there. Their father, a minister, was sent to Africa, and their mother accompanied him, so they stayed with their grandparents in California. How will Mary Grace and Donny handle being apart from their parents and their stay in California? Why don't you come along with these wonderful siblings on this adventure?

Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe is a children's book, but as I read the author's note, I knew it was more than that, and I fell in love with the premise and couldn't wait to find out how the story ends. I first thought the book was too long for a children's book, but the book has the right tone and flows well, which made it enjoyable to read.

Donny was gentle and sweet, and he appeared normal to the other kids since that was how his family treated him. I understand Mary Grace's outrage at her parents' departure, and I admire her ability to comprehend everything despite her young age. The impact Donny had on people was incredible due to his loving upbringing.

Mary Grace is a thoughtful and caring individual. I appreciate the author's emphasis on how to care for Donny rather than his difficulties. I'm not sure what a person gains by hurting others, especially people with disabilities. This shows the impact of one's family upbringing once more.

There were so many lessons to be learned in this book, and it has a fantastic concept for children. I found no errors, so I believe this book was exceptionally well edited. As a result, I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to children and the young at heart who like a delightful novel about family and adventure.

I love the author's inclusion of a character with special needs. I am confident that all other kids who suffered from Down Syndrome will be motivated by Donny's bravery.

I tend to identify with Mary Grace and her protective inclinations even though I didn’t have anyone with such a disability in my family. By the way, I take issue with the word disability. It implies the people with them are not capable. And that is NOT true.

The character of Donny, portrayed as gentle and sweet, resonates with the other kids due to his loving upbringing. Mary Grace's feelings of outrage at her parents' departure are understandable, yet her ability to comprehend and cope with the situation shows her maturity beyond her young age.
