Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula
Pets such as cats and dogs are known for their friendly and affectionate nature, so humans enjoy having them as companions. This book revolves around a group of two dogs and five cats who embark on a mission to assist their mom in a cooking competition in South Korea.
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is a book on Inca's mission in South Korea. The story revolves around Inca and her team helping their mom, a chef participating in a cooking competition. Inca is the team leader of a group consisting of four cats named Fromage, Cara, Monk, and Charlotte, as well as two dogs named Terrance and Polo. Inca and her team are renowned for their investigative expertise, but they face a new challenge when a rival chef named Florence attempts to steal their mother's cheese out of sheer avarice and envy. With 118 pages, readers are invited to immerse themselves in the book to discover how Inca and her team navigate this difficult situation.
I enjoyed some aspects of the book. One particular element that stood out to me was the author's inclusion of character portraits on pages 4, 5, and 6. This clever touch added to the book's intrigue, as it helped readers easily recall the characters' names throughout the story. Additionally, I was impressed by the solidarity demonstrated by Inca and her companions, who always showed up prepared and supported one another in their missions. This book conveyed the importance of collaboration to me, and I was struck by the remarkable teamwork displayed by the characters.
Some aspects of the book did not resonate with me. In order to facilitate better recollection of the characters, it may be beneficial to reduce their number. For example, a book spanning 118 pages and featuring eight characters can be challenging for children to remember. Furthermore, some characters within the story serve a minor purpose, and removing them could make it easier for kids to recall the relevant characters.
My favorite character in the book was Inca, who acted as the team's reader. I discovered one error in the book, so it was professionally well-edited. Due to the aspects of the book I enjoy, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to children interested in reading about a group of pets on a mission to help their mom in a cooking competition.
