Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure is a children's book by Catherine A. Pepe. At Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, Donny and Mary Grace had wonderful moments visiting animal exhibitions. Later, they relocated to California to live with Papa Steve and Grandma Cathy. Their parents had planned a mission for the Episcopal Church in Africa, forcing them to live with their grannies. They shifted school to a new one, North Elementary School in California. It was nice renewing the memories of California and reciting their moments in Wichita. However, their new school life brought about misfortunes to them. The encounters gave them the pain of life from home. Watch what befell them.

The book is a fascinating one. To begin with, Catherine A. Pepe incorporated humor in her narration, mainly when Donny and Mary were waddling like penguins a moment after Donny was found, after being lost in the zoo, with clapping and laughter filling the air. Again, Mary Grace appears sharp-minded through her idea of getting suggestion notes from pupils by giving young people a chance to speak their minds through anonymous texts in a shoebox. Once again, the author shows how parents create dysfunction in their children through an incident where Mary Grace vowed not to ever attend a church service due to a decision made by her parents without her involvement.

There is deep pain and emotions in the weight of the words that Mary Grace used to question her parents for deciding to move to Africa and leaving them under the care of the grannies.

I rate this book five out of five stars. First, the book, Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure, is edited exceptionally. Secondly, the flow is soothing and not burdening with dumping stories.

I recommend this book to pet-keeping and pet-loving children. It appears fun on the nature of their interactions.
