Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures is a children's fiction book by Catherine A. Pepe. Donny, Mary Grace's little brother, is a sweet, happy child with Down Syndrome. Despite his condition, he is loved and cherished by his family and even strangers that come across him. Their parents decided to go overseas as missionaries to help impoverished populations. When the siblings go to California temporarily to stay with their grandparents, they are excited but reluctant to leave their friends back in Kansas.

Nevertheless, they face their fears of the unknown and go on the trip, enrolling in a new school and making new adventures. But someone isn't happy about Donny and Mary Grace's arrival, and they target them. Never fear because The Grandma Gang is on the case! With Mary Grace's help, they set off to find the mean bully and stop them. Read it to discover who it is and how Donny and Mary Grace get situated in Cali.

There is nothing I didn't like about the book! I gave it five out of five and four out of four because I did not find a single error. It's a fun but relatively quick read, perfect for youngsters. There are drawn illustrations at the end of the chapters, adding an artistic touch that readers will appreciate. Even though this book is about bullying, it handles this severe matter in a delicate way that is not offputting or vulgar. Instead, it highlights the bully's rehabilitation so that they can understand how their actions affect the mental state of others.

Mary Grace is a wonderful young lady who will be a role model for boys and girls worldwide. Her love for her brother is fierce, reminding us that we must protect and defend our families and friends as much as possible. The book's characters are diverse, making it approachable to all audiences. I recommend it if you're looking for a fun adventure. Both children and adults will love this because there are moral lessons for all ages. This is truly a touching book!
