I could very much relate to the story contained in this book because I was fortunate to be close to a child who had Down syndrome. This book did not just create awareness about Down syndrome; it went as far as helping us understand the unique behaviors of those who suffer from it. Kids who require special care deserve the greatest form of love and positivity, and this was one point this book made so evident. Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe is one book you would love, irrespective of your age.

This book covers a series of adventures undertaken by Mary Grace and her brother Donny, who had Down syndrome. John and Jen Miller had a very beautiful family, and their kids, Donny and Mary Grace, were so fond of them. However, Mr. and Mrs. Miller were sent to Africa for a missionary assignment. How would this affect their children? Will Donny cope with the new changes? Read this book to find out.

The effort put into the organization and edition of this book is worthy of commendation. This book was well edited. I could not spot any errors in this book. There were so many lessons that could be derived from this book for kids. I love how the author used this book as a medium to address the issues of bullying among children while highlighting the various forms in which it could occur. The gradual progression and unfolding of events in the story got me hooked while I read this book.

I would have loved it more if every chapter of this book had a title. I felt a bit uncomfortable with the number of characters in this book. This is a children's book, and dealing with numerous characters and their names could easily get kids bored. Aside from this, I had absolutely no issues with this book.

This book deserves a full-star rating, as the reasons above had no significant effect on the pleasure I had reading it. I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to all lovers of family life and children's books.
