Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures is the heartwarming story of Donny, a five-year-old boy with Down syndrome, and his sister Mary Grace. The children lived and enjoyed a wonderful life with their parents in Wichita. One day, the children's parents inform them that they have to travel to Kenya. This means that the children have to go and live with their grandparents in California for two years. Donny is very excited about it, but Mary Grace is sad about having to leave Wichita and all her friends behind.

In California, the two children spend time with their grandparents and navigate settling into a new school. A few weeks after they arrive, Mary Grace has a mystery to solve, and she enlists the help of the Grandma Gang.

What I like most about this book is that it can be enjoyed by both adults and children. It is full of amazing lessons on parenting, retribution, and restitution, as well as kindness. I also absolutely love how the author portrays that children and people who live with Down syndrome and other disabilities can be wonderful and useful members of society and should be treated as such. They do not deserve to be stigmatized or ostracized. An inclusive society is a society for everyone.

There are no negatives about this book. It imparts beautiful life lessons to the reader. The editing is flawless, and I did not find any errors while reading. Therefore, I rate this book five out of five stars. I learned the importance of showing kindness. I enjoyed Donny's eternal optimism and zest for life. I also liked Mary Grace's curiosity and care for her brother.

I recommend this book to adults and children. I also recommend it to parents and teachers, as well as those dealing with children or anyone with disabilities.
