My daughter Emery is almost two months and loves to be read to. She doesn't look at the pictures yet so reading board books to her for hours and hours is boring me to tears. I need some suggestions of good story books to get her for christmas. I was thinking of buying the chronicles of Narnia and his dark materials to start. Any suggestions? Either short story books or storyline novels.

I would suggest starting with small short books that are about 10-15 pages long. The short pages with pictures has worked for me and my son who loves viewing the pictures. Just a thought to help you out.

She's young and just enjoys the sound of your voice right now. Choose whatever will be interesting to you. Apparently, my dad used to read to me out of Popular Mechanics and I loved it (so I've been told :D).

You could always try some of the old classics like the Velveteen Rabbit too, if you feel like you want to stay with the children's classics. Just watch out for the versions where they tried to modernize the toys. I was not amused by those changes.

As a child, I know the books I enjoyed my dad reading to me the most were ones he enjoyed reading! He loved Louis L’amour books, which are old western story lines. I remember not always understanding what he was reading, but enjoying spending time with my dad and asking questions about what was happening in the stories.
