Tittle: Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures
Author: Catherine A. Pepe
The book is one of realistic for the purpose of kids especially in adventures. It tells a story more in detail how adventures are not always pleasant as people tend to expect, there are incidents that could happen slong the way due to fact that we meet different types of people. The book itself describes how two young children how they had to adjust to new town, new environment and new people with absolute different kinds people, and they had to deal with unwelcoming events also criticism towards a young brother (Donny) who had down syndrome.
In summary the book is in regards of two kids who stayed in Whicita, Kansas with their parent which they had to move to California to stay with their grandparents due to the fact that their parent to do some project in Kenya, Africa. The kids were not so happy obviously especially the girl (Mary Grace). When they arrived in California they had to face difficulties at school were they were bullied and threatened but Mary Grace had a strong personality and she was very protective of her brother. Eventually everything get solved and they make good friends.
I would highly recommend this book it gives a very deep insight how to deal with such events and how it a grate deal for parents to mind their actions, anger, and cruel language they speak around children of which children can think it is appropriate to use it amongst others. It also gives the teachers a grate responsibility to know and notice how children act around others and to find out how children are being treated back at home.
