Review of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures
There is an announcement at the zoo about a missing child named Donny Miller, who has Down syndrome. His sister, Mary Grace Miller, was returning from the penguin exhibit, where Donny had left his favorite blanket. She had left Donny ten minutes ago, standing close to their parents. Two teenage boys and the zoo staff also volunteered to search for Donny. Will they be able to find him?
Mr. and Mrs. Miller had just informed Mary Grace and Donny that they would be traveling to Africa for a mission. It implies that the children will be going to California to stay with their grandparents. This news seems shocking and annoying to Mary Grace, while Donny is happy about it. I guess you will be delighted to know their reasons.
Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe is a children's book that contains a lot of moral lessons. I like how Mrs. Miller is so sensitive. This should be emulated by every parent. There is a need to look out for our children's welfare, especially in terms of what they wear, the words that come out of their mouths, and the people they look up to. It is interesting to say that I enjoyed the parent-to-child relationship of the Miller family.
I couldn't help but laugh at some scenes. Since it's a children's book, the author should be commended for adding humor to the story, thereby adding to the enjoyment while reading, especially when Mary Grace and Donny were displaying their penguin dance steps.
I could not find any negative aspects in this book. Also, I could not find any errors, which indicates that it was exceptionally edited. Therefore, I will rate this book five out of five stars. The perfect rating is a result of the reasons stated above. I will recommend this book to children who are adventurous and love solving mysteries because they are part of its content.
