Life is filled with unexpected changes at every turn. We have no choice but to embrace these changes and make the best of them. Mary Grace and her brother Donny also had to experience the unexpected changes that life brings. From having their environment and daily routine totally altered. They had to find the courage and hope to adapt to the new things in their life. Mary Grace is older than Donny and she is very protective of her little brother. Donny is a very special boy who is always happy and smiling. He has down syndrome and when he was young their parents were given the option to put him in an institution but they refused and wanted to take care of him themselves. Mary Grace had a big role in caring for her brother especially when their parents had to leave as missionaries and the two of them had to go stay with their grandparents. Find out in the book A Grandma Gang Mystery: Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe about all their adventures and how they overcame the struggles of being the new kids in town.

I mostly enjoyed how each character was portrayed and the story flow. I admire the author for addressing this behavior of how down syndrome people are treated.

I give this book a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 because it was easy to relate to and understand. I recommend this book for children and teenagers.
