Review of Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids
Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul with Arvind Paul is a children’s book. It is relatively short, sharing a message to parents and children about the importance of worshipping God and repenting for your sins to experience eternal life.
Emma is eight years old and has a sister, Bella, who is six. They have loving parents and a baby sister. They are a happy family, and the girls have everything they want and need. Their parents teach them about God’s love and spend time reading the Bible together and praying. One night when the girls are asleep, Emma has a dream about God. In her dream, Angels come to her and Bella and take them on a trip to Heaven. They experience the wonders of Heaven before Jesus and His Angels take them back home. Emma is excited to share her dream with her family, who eagerly listen and ask many questions. Emma is so happy about her dream that she prays to experience more. She then begins to visit Heaven often, meets its residents, and has much to share with her family.
The book contains simple sentences that are appropriate for children’s understanding. Almost every other page is a charming full-page illustration capturing moments of the book. They are colourful, attractive, and perfect to stimulate a child’s imagination and bring the story to life. The text is easy to follow and straightforward. The book is an ideal bedtime story for a child and covers a big subject in a fun and educational way. However, the book is more suited for families of the Christian Faith. The main message of the book is to worship God and follow Jesus. Therefore the book would not appeal to families of other religions.
I enjoyed the layout of the book and its vibrancy. I thought it was a nice touch that the dream experience related to scripture in the Bible. The underlying message is fantastic for religious families, as it provides a resource for describing Heaven and showcases religion as love, not something to be fearful of.
I particularly enjoyed the descriptions of the dreams about being in Heaven. These descriptions are how anyone would like to imagine Heaven. It is also helpful for families who want to discuss a family member or friend who has passed away to their children. The book’s explanation and illustrations of Heaven would comfort a child to know a loved one is residing there.
I didn’t find any spelling or grammar errors in the book. The professional editing is exceptional. I also found nothing to dislike. It is a great book to teach children about religion and Christian Faith. It carries an important message, and the vibrancy of the illustrations helps deliver it. My only comment is that it may only be suitable for a family of Christian Faith. With all things considered, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.
