Rudi Caribou, written by D. Burton Smith, is an educational book for children. Rudi shares with the reader the difficulties a young caribou might face and how caribou manage to migrate more than a thousand miles every year.

My first impression of this book was that the Caribou on the cover was an actual animal, but as I read it, I realized that the illustrations were very well done and fooled me. I spent a lot of time looking at the pictures because they were so much better than realistic caribou pictures, and I think a child will feel the same way about them that I did. This book provides a wealth of information about caribou, including the predators they face, the routes they take during migration, and much more. The book also includes a map of where you might find caribous.

The way the author used a calf caribou was a great way to introduce the reader to the species. The fact that the narrator, who is a caribou, was given a name was a nice touch, too. The illustrations were one of the best parts of this book and deserve all the praise. We don't have caribou where I come from, so I've always found them to be mysterious and fascinating. Some of the caribou's characteristics surprised even me, but I won't reveal them here so that readers can discover them through the book. I also loved that this book was educational.

There was not a single thing about this book that I did not enjoy. I give this book a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars because it is not only informative but also educational, and it is sure to capture the attention of all children. The editing appears to be spotless; I found no mistakes.

I think it's important for all kids to learn about this magnificent creature, and this book is a great way to do so. The illustrations are also outstanding, so the kids will have a good time admiring them.

Kids will love this. I like the way it is educational, great picture display, and exciting. Likewise, I love to know what characteristics a caribou has and share them with my kids. Yet, you seem to have enjoyed this book; therefore, we will. Spectacular review worthy of admiration!

An educational books with pictures is always more engaging than just loads of information conveyed in a dry manner. Nice review! This appears to be a book that kids will love reading through and learn too.

I can’t imagine the fascination of seeing these creatures in person. I love the feeling in your heart when you're in the presence of majestic creatures as the caribous. Not to mention I am always a fan of educational books that you learn something new. Thank you for writing another fascinating review, Christell!

It is a story about courage, perseverance, and the importance of following your dreams. The story is also educational, as it teaches children about the life of a caribou and the challenges they face.

I think that this is a good idea for children. I am ashamed to admit that I didn’t know caribou were a real thing until one of my best friends moved to Delaware/Maine with her husband after high school. I thought it was just another name for elk. Rudi will help to keep kids interested, too. Congratulations on BOTD!

Christell, your review is great and I fully agree on all points. I read this book to the end because it is so short and because I could not stop admiring the illustrations, like you :). I agree that the illustrations are outstanding, the book is educational, and it deserves a perfect score you awarded it.

Congrats on BOTD!
For kids, I believe this to be a great idea. I regret to inform you that until one of my closest friends and her spouse relocated to Delaware or Maine after high school, I was unaware that caribou actually existed. I mistook it for just another term for elk. Rudi will also contribute to the kids' continued interest.

Caribous? This children's book looks to have a wealth of knowledge on this animal. But was it really not an animal that the book talked about? I hope to find out. I also look forward to viewing the well-drawn illustrations.

Gorgeous illustrations. If there were little ones in my life at the moment, I'd grab a hardcopy for them this holiday season.
