When I first saw the book cover, I was curious about why there were three grandmas on it. However, as I started reading the book, everything became clear. Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe is divided into seventeen chapters. It begins with a note from the author, followed by an acknowledgment section.

The story revolves around two siblings, Donny and Mary Grace Miller. Donny, who is five years old, has Down syndrome. Their father is a priest, and they live as a happy family, going on trips to the zoo and shopping. But one day, their father is transferred to Africa as a missionary. Since they couldn't take the kids along, they had to live apart for two years. How will the children handle this news? What will their life be like in California? To find out, you should read this captivating book.

I really like the colourful cover of the book, and I appreciate the themes it explores, such as love and bravery. The bond between Donny and Mary Grace is truly special, and I admire it. Mary Grace's maturity is impressive and highlights the significance of a good upbringing. I enjoy her detective and mystery-solving skills, as well as the parents' relationship with their children. The palm tree illustrations used to indicate paragraph breaks are adorable and depict real-life situations that occur among elementary school children.

This book strongly opposes bullying and teaches siblings how to support and be there for each other. Because of the valuable lessons it offers, I give it a five out of five rating. I couldn't find anything to dislike about it; the editing is excellent, and I didn't spot any errors. I also appreciate the courageous grandmas. This is a fantastic children's book with an engaging storyline and plot. The characters are well-developed and relatable.

I highly recommend this book to parents, children, and teachers. It will demonstrate to parents the importance of raising their children well and teach them how to speak up in difficult situations, especially when facing bullying.
