TITLE: Donny and Mary's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe

The book starts off with Mary Grace and Donny with their parents living their normal day to day life and showcasing what it is to embrace the idea of care and affection amongst a family and most especially the bond between siblings and the tendency to look out for one another, this book " Donny and Mary's California Adventures by Catherine Anna Pepe ", emphasizes that while giving a fun and curious outlook on the journey of exploring life and it's surprises even as a child and how to handle negative news in the case of their parents moving to Africa for a missionary expedition. And how not to dwell on it so much but look forward to what the future brings. While also highlighting the oneness of a community and the role to play in raising a child(ren). Learning lessons like good people make mistakes as well and the use of learning from those mistakes and second chances.
In addition there is an inclusivity and normalizing the opinions of disabilities at a child friendly or simplified form or manner in that book towards Donny and his experiences as a child with special needs and being in a classroom that caters to such needs with patience, love and care.
The chapter that introduces bullying and let's young ones know that not only physically but mentally and emotionally one can be affected by such a thing and the necessities to involve adults (in form of teachers, parents or guardians) immediately so as to handle the situation correctly and then find and de-escalate the cause of the issue in a rightful manner. And how wrong it is to antagonize and use certain words on one another as they can be hurtful to the emotions and cause pain beyond what we can see on the surface.
And how Mary Grace brilliantly takes charge of it to do what she loves and solves her own mystery, which counts as an adventure albeit.
Which also goes to show that regardless of being children there are always complex emotions which can also lead them to doing complex things and it's up to us as a society to enable then to process these feeling properly and attentively channel then so as not to lash out and engage them wrongly. This book showcases that exactly and being surrounded be kind and thoughtful adults who believe in working out for the best will always the course of action to take.

So far, I have no negative remarks about this book because it hits the mark and gives pleasant lessons and ideas to the readers and is very suitable for children from age 7 and above who can read comprehensively or are learning to as well. I'm rating this book a 4 out of 5 above average.
