A Very Special Ring was written by Cpl. Mike Beck, U.S. Army (Ret), and is a book for younger readers. This is a lovely tale about a boy who works hard on a farm and the friends he makes along the way. When his next-door neighbour Diane stopped by, he demonstrated to her how to feed the young calves that lived on the farm. When he went to get more milk, one of the calves swallowed her grandmother's ring and seemed very upset. Will she be able to retrieve her ring?

The illustrations had a vivid quality to them that I'm not sure how to describe but that I think would definitely grab the attention of a young reader. The sentences are concise, which is ideal for the target audience, and they are written in a way that is simple and straightforward. This is a tale about a kid who discovers the meaning of responsibility at a young age, as well as the importance of friendship.

I really appreciated that the author gave the main character some responsibilities, as this is not something that typically appears in children's books these days. In all honesty, I wish that there were more books on the market that showed characters with responsibilities. I absolutely adored the illustrations because they possessed an understated vividness that contributed to my growing fondness for the story.

This book receives the highest possible rating of five out of five stars from me because I adored every aspect of it and found nothing about it objectionable. It teaches children that they, too, can have responsibilities and that adults aren't the only ones who can have them. It does this by including acts of kindness and friendship. Even though I found a few mistakes, I am still of the opinion that it has been edited professionally.

I would suggest this book to children who have a passion for animals as well as those who enjoy reading about friendship and finding solutions to problems. In addition, I suggest this book to readers between the ages of five and eight.

The boy seems to take his responsibility seriously and it's great that he also wants to be able to teach Diane how these things are done. The illustrations also have a great deal to do with the appeal of this particular book.

It's good for children to be taught some responsibility too like the boy. I wish I could grab this book for my storytelling lover's little niece. I want to collect more children's books, and this one goes on my list. Thanks for your lovely review, Christell!
