Review of Unicorns Know Magic
Charles T. Adkins' Unicorns Know Magic is a delightful children's storybook that follows the enchanting adventures of four friendly, talented, and fascinating unicorns. These magical creatures become neighbors to the main character and his sister. As the story unfolds, the children bond closely with Abby, Georgia, Bitsy, and Chase, discovering their extraordinary abilities. Abby juggles many balls, Georgia showcases her skating skills, Bitsy impresses with her headstands, and Chase mesmerizes with his guitar-playing talents. The unicorns' ability to fly and perform magic is the most awe-inspiring aspect. Through their interactions, the children embark on thrilling adventures and unforgettable experiences.
The most captivating aspect of this storybook is its vibrant and colorful illustrations. The blend of bright and fanciful colors will captivate young readers' attention. Nearly every passage is accompanied by an illustration that vividly brings the story's events to life. For example, when the characters visit Paris and meet the guards, the accompanying illustration helps the children grasp and visualize the scene, making it simpler for them to follow the narrative. These enchanting illustrations add a layer of magic to the already delightful tale, making it an engaging and immersive reading experience for children.
Furthermore, the storybook's use of simple language is commendable. The author skillfully incorporates rhyme, making it effortless for children to follow the engaging plot. Beyond its captivating narrative, the story imparts valuable life lessons to young readers, emphasizing the significance of cleanliness and tidiness. The unicorns' responsible behavior in cleaning up after themselves sets a wonderful example for young minds to emulate. These essential life lessons and the book's delightful storyline create an enjoyable and enriching reading experience for children.
Despite a few drawbacks, this storybook remains highly recommended. Firstly, the text size is small, posing some reading challenges. Secondly, the lack of names for the children in the story, merely referred to as "my sister and I," may be slightly inconvenient. However, these minor flaws do not detract from the overall enchanting experience. With impeccable editing, I wholeheartedly give this storybook a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. It's a delightful read that will captivate young readers, making it a valuable addition to any bookshelf.
This book is a perfect read for children aged 5 to 10. The book is accessible enough for a five-year-old to read independently, while parents can also enjoy reading it aloud to younger children. If you're looking for a quick and captivating storybook to entertain and engage young readers, this book is an excellent choice. Its delightful narrative and enchanting illustrations will captivate children's imaginations and make it a cherished addition to their book collection.
