In Welcome To The Amazing Forest Town of Squirrelsville by Paul Padgett, we are introduced to an adorable little town in the forest and the people who live in it. We see how everybody comes together to keep their little town running and how a brave little man tries to save the day and keep the citizens of Squirrelsville safe. Is he successful?

The book is exciting and educational. I like the storyline because it has a lot of lessons on almost every page. Describing a school as "fun" will help children start seeing it that way. The book also encourages children to be their best and contribute positively and not negatively to society. It also teaches children to be mindful of their actions and how they affect others, like the careless humans who do not double-check to see if their campfire is adequately put out.

Seeing squirrels do the things human beings will typically do will quickly grab children's attention and make them take more interest in the world around us and their roles in it. It will also help them respect nature and treat animals with kindness.

I loved the illustrations; they were very colorful and eye-catching. I also loved how detailed they were; they added more depth to the book. Seeing the layout of a town with labels like "bank," "nut store," "police department," etc., will help children picture the town being described.

The book is rated for 1 to 8 years. However, the language and sentence structure is quite complex and must be broken down further for children aged 1 to 3. Therefore the book will best suit children between 4 and 8 years. Here's an example on Page 4: "The Squirrels have personalities like humans, and their little towns in the wilderness work kind of like our cities function." Little children will have difficulty breaking down these big words. Also, the font is tiny, and the black text doesn't contrast very well with the dark green background used on some pages. Readers will squint to read, especially if they're reading from a screen. Zooming in will make the reading tedious because of the book's layout. The best will be to make the fonts bigger.

The book was exceptionally edited. I would love to give the book a perfect rating because of the storyline and illustrations. However, because of the issues raised above, I would have to rate Welcome To The Amazing Forest Town of Squirrelsville 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to children between 4 and 8 years.
