While visiting the zoo with her family, Mary Grace Miller's brother Donny—a five-year-old boy with Down syndrome—got lost. The priest, Mr. Miller, and his wife are called to serve as missionaries in Africa. It is difficult for the two kids to leave because they are fond of their house.

They will live with their grandparents in California for the next two years. An issue concerning Mary Grace and Donny occurs at the California school. Will the siblings be able to solve this problem? What role will their grandparents play in solving this issue?

Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe is a very entertaining book. Every story in this book was fantastic, but my favorites were the meetings Mary Grace and Donny had in California. It was nice to read about how the Millers always had a good time as a family, and I cherished seeing the bond and love they shared. They all showed affection and concern for Donny, who was born with Down syndrome. After arriving in California, I relished the assortment of experiences Mary and Donny underwent. I applaud Mary Grace for looking after herself and her brother while their parents were away.

It was fascinating to watch Mary Grace solve a case and gain acceptance into the Grandma Gang. She rapidly forged bonds with Penelope Li, a youngster of Chinese heritage in her class at North Elementary School in California, which was also admirable. I found nothing negative about the book. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I found no errors, indicating it was well-edited.

I like how Mary Grace handled Jason, who attempted to bully her. Bullying is wrong, and offenders should be punished. I recommend this book to parents who have kids who suffer from Down Syndrome. They should be treated with extreme care. I also recommend it to children who love books about adventure and mystery.
