This book speaks to my heart, as I love my three dogs dearly! Reading children a story about a real dog will be a fun and interesting change for storytime. Little readers will fall in love with Bear, and I do not doubt that it will cultivate a love and appreciation for animals in general. I enjoyed reading your insightful review. Thanks!

Dogs are by far my best kind of pets. I'm sure I would have loved the Porters' dogs, especially since he's named after another animal. Dogs make the best memories which lets me know this book is worth the read.

This book sounds like a fine choice for pet lovers and animal lovers in general. It’s too bad it had so many errors. Thanks for a nice review!

I think I appreciate the fact that it was written in simple English, as it will enable children to read it better. Great idea from the author to coin such a piecee.

Before, I didn't like dogs for anything until I met one in my Aunty's place, since then, I started liking dogs as pets. Thanks for this review

A Spiritual Dog: “Bear” by J. Wesley Porter is a non-fiction children’s book about the author’s beloved rescue dog. In 2003, Mr. Porter and his family decided to get a dog so they visited a local animal shelter in Killeen, Texas. They fell in love with an 8-week old Shih Tzu mixed breed puppy named Bear and adopted him. An exuberant puppy, he thrived on positive attention and affection. The story moves forward as Bear grows into a medium-sized dog, with trips to the groomer, playing with the author’s two sons, and his penchant for chasing rabbits.

How ironic since my wife and I adopted a rescue dog named Bear in 2014. We renamed him Oliver and he really fits the description of this dog except for the breed. Oliver is a Beagle who has thrived on positive attention and affection since the day we brought him home. I really enjoyed the free sample and the official review is very good.

This book sounds interesting. From the title I didn't think this was a children's book but the review sounds awesome. I love dogs and I wouldn't mind reading such a book even though am not a child.

Wow, this week has been about children's books. Writing about his dog shows how much the author must care for him. It would make a good read for children.

This non-fiction story is a relatable one for kids. I love the author's illustration of the growth and changes Bear experienced. I believe the young readers and adult will have one or two lessons to learn from the book. Nice review.

Notwithstanding that am not a fan of Children's books, I find this very engaging and interesting. How the puppy grew into a mature dog that blended with the author's family is so amazing. Awesome review.
