Review of Stevie Tenderheart Books A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story)
When you were a child, do you recall the dreams you had? Were your dreams filled with lively characters in a beautiful world, or were they scary? In my case, I remember falling from the sky in some of my dreams and waking up before hitting the ground. Stevie Tenderheart Books A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story) by Steve William Laible is a children’s book that explores Stevie's dream world.
The story begins with the narration of Stevie's world when he is asleep. In his dreams, he can fly among the stars, taste rainbows, and see creatures that can talk. He experiences all this from the comfort of his bed. Fast forward, and Stevie hatches a plan that would help him fall asleep more quickly. He writes a wishful note and leaves it on a special tree for the animals and creatures in his neighborhood, requesting goodnight kisses. He needs not just one, but two kisses from the entire animal crew in order to fall fast asleep. How will this story continue from here? Read this book in order to find out.
When I selected this book, I must admit that the title and the cover page were the first things that caught my eye. Upon reading the pages, I found several aspects of the book that I really enjoyed. First of all, there are funny descriptions that make the book interesting. I could not help but chuckle when I read why the giraffes were the last to kiss Stevie. The description of what happened to the little baby spider that was near Stevie’s nostril when he sneezed made me laugh even harder.
There isn't a single element about this fantastic book that I didn't like. Since it's a children's book, I would have loved to see more pictures to help kids visualize the story better. At the beginning and conclusion of the book, the author was nice enough to provide some quotes that inspired the audience. I noticed that the quotes from the beginning of the book were repeated at the end of the book. Even though this did not prevent me from enjoying the book, I think it was not necessary.
I did not find any grammatical errors in this book, and I therefore believe that it was professionally edited. It is fair to give this book a rating of five out of five stars because I really enjoyed reading it. I recommend it to children, as they will enjoy it and get some teachings, such as closing their closets before they sleep and why they should chew food properly before swallowing. Adults who choose to read it will need to use their imaginations in order to fully appreciate it. This is the first book by Steve William that I have read, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more of his writing.
