The Elephant Dreamer by Mary Lynn Hamzo is a children’s novel with a message that worth comes from within. The author has been an educator for over 35 years and is inspired to teach adults the skill to see the world through children’s eyes. The book is suitable for children aged 3-10.

Bobbi, the baby elephant, is born in captivity at The Blissful Zoo. All the animals believe she is a miracle as she was born in captivity. Bobbi is visited by all the other animals and loved by everyone. The animals say that Bobbi will make the world a better place. Bobbi is determined and sets to work on finding out how. She tries several different activities and injures herself being an astronaut. Her friends remind her it is more important to know who you are, not what you are.

The book has a beautiful message of self-worth, kindness, and compassion. I loved how the message was simple but so important. Children will no doubt understand how worth comes from within with the help of this book. I also liked the journey of self-discovery Bobbi takes, with all her obstacles and misadventures. Her animal friends are guides and fill her life with love, which sets a fine example for young children.

Full-page illustrations are on every other page, which are attractive, colourful, and display the story. The drawings bring the story to life and will appeal to children. The text is in short paragraphs of simple language. Bobbi repeats a rhyme, which is one that a child will remember. I liked the format of the book. An illustration per paragraph of text is perfect for young readers.

After the end of the story, there is a list of suggested questions for parents and guardians. These talking points are a clever idea that can produce an interactive conversation. I like how this further stimulates the child and can reinforce the messages in the book. The author has managed to combine a great story with education.

I didn’t find any spelling or grammar mistakes in the book. The book is exceptionally edited. I loved the story, the illustrations, and the suggested post-story questions. I found nothing to dislike. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. The book is perfect for young children to provide an entertaining story and teach a valuable life lesson.

the Elephant Dreamer is an absolute triumph in storytelling. From the very first page, I was drawn into its world, unable to put it down until I reached the final, satisfying conclusion.

Good read for the kids . This book actually narrates the story of baby elephant without much fuss and connects the reader to the core with elegance. Few important aspects like compassion and self belief .
it highlights the fact that every kid is special and has some unique skills. discussion between different animals is quite catchy . The kind of struggle baby elephant Bobbi goes through highlights there is no substitute for hardwork and we should not give up in tough situations. this is yet another powerful and subtle message to the readers especially kids. authors deserves full credit for simple yet impactful narration
