Have you ever experienced non-physical bullying or emotional torture as a child? Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe goes through different aspects of living as a child, parent, and grandparent.

Donny is the last child of the Miller nuclear family. Donny is a unique child; he has Down syndrome. He received all the love he ever needed from his parents and sister. His rector dad and engineer mom loved and cared for Donny and his sister, Mary Grace. Everything is beautiful and smooth for the children until they hear the news of their father’s transfer to Africa on a missionary assignment. Mr. Miller has to go to Africa with his wife but without the children. Donny and Mary Grace would move to California to stay with their grandparents. They would also attend a new school there. How will the children manage this new development? How will they overcome the challenges in their new school?

The book was very insightful and informative. It exposes the imitative nature of children toward their parents and the consequences. Justin was a case study, as the kid used words he heard from his father about his schoolmates. It also teaches that love and care from parents matter in the lives of children. Mary Grace was a brilliant girl. She knew how to think and solve mysteries. Donny, on the other hand, loved himself and everyone else. I loved his view of life and his beautiful aura.

The book encourages good values and shuns bad ones. I love that discipline was also encouraged. It also teaches how school authorities should handle cases. It discouraged bullying and the use of hurtful words against people.

There was nothing to dislike about this book. I must commend the author for a well-written book. The characters were well-developed. I found no errors, indicating that it was exceptionally well-edited. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is suitable for children, parents, and even grandparents. I also recommend the book to lovers of adventure.
