The Sleep Switch is a bedtime children's book that is written by Laurie McMillan. The book also consists of beautiful illustrations that were made by Wathmi de Zoysa. Tucking one's child to bed is an essential and loving part of every parent's routine. However, I'm sure that many parents face problems while performing this routine every now and then. The problems may be because the child still has a lot of energy, or the child feels a bit restless, or the child just isn't feeling sleepy yet. This book will help the parents and the kids overcome those problems.

This book is a beautiful replacement for old techniques like counting sheep or old lullabies. The sentences are simple and are written in rhyme. The Sleep Switch is not just another bedtime rhyme. It is a beautiful book that helps the child relax every part of their body while also being grateful for it. I personally used this with my niece, and she loved the experience. Not only did she fall asleep almost immediately after this, but she also genuinely enjoyed reading the book and thinking about and thanking each body part.

I believe that such bedtime routines are important not only for kids but also for adults. I've experienced similar exercises while trying guided meditations for adults, and I am very glad that this book has made this experience child-friendly.

The book has very beautiful illustrations on each page. The vibrant colors and images will make your child fall in love with the book instantly. Each page shows a different child in a different setting. I appreciate the fact that the illustrator made sure to represent diverse groups. I loved how some kids were already asleep, some were being tucked in by a parent, and some had a pet or a stuffed toy with them.

There is absolutely nothing that I didn't like about this book. I commend the author for coming up with a book that will help kids build a healthy sleep routine. This routine includes gratitude, relaxation, and even meditation. The book was very well-edited since I could not find even a single error.

I will give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. There is absolutely no reason for me to deduct even a single star. I will recommend this book to anyone who has kids under the age of 8 or 9. I feel confident in saying that this is one of the best bedtime books for kids.
