Review of Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids
Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul.
Eight year old Emma has a dream about Heaven. In Emma's dream, both Emma and her little sister, six year old Bella, go to Heaven and meet Jesus. To get to Heaven, some angels came down and lifted the girls out of their beds and carried them all the way up and through the clouds to God's Kingdom. Once they arrived, the girls were standing in front of a really big and beautiful golden house. They knocked on the door and Jesus opened the door and He happily invited the girls into His house. Jesus said "Welcome to My house. There are many rooms here for those who love Me!" Emma described Jesus as being very tall with long brown hair and dressed in a very clean and shiny, almost sparkling white garment. On their tour through Heaven they saw so many beautiful things. They saw beautiful gardens filled with the prettiest flowers, and lots of animals and tons of really yummy food. They saw all kinds of people, all healthy and strong, running and playing and having so much fun! Everyone was so happy.
Emma wanted to go back, so she prayed before bed that Jesus would let her go back to visit again.
The second time that Emma visited Heaven in her dream wasn't as pleasant, because this time, Jesus let her see Hell. Emma described what she saw in Hell to her mommy and daddy and her little sister.
The target audience is for children. The color illustrations are very beautiful and and depicts the story perfectly for children as the story is being read to them. This is a wonderful book to utilize as an introduction to Heaven and Jesus as the children will have many questions. I personally think it will also be a great time to introduce the children to the Bible and get them intrested in reading the Bible.
I give Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids 5 stars because the story will get the kids to ask questions and want to learn more. The book would be perfect to gift with a Bible and encourage daily reading and thinking and of course learning. I did not find any errors. The only thing I don't really like about the book, and it's not a big thing, is the title, specifically the word "Snatched". The word gives more of a feeling that the children were snatched from their beds against their will and forced to go to Heaven. It gives more of a negative feeling and made me feel a little hesitant to reading this book. If I saw it in store or at the library, I'm not sure I'd pick it up, which is a shame as this is a very beautiful book.
This book is definitely a Christian book for children and families to read together.
