Review of Growing Down Instead of Up
A children's book titled Growing Down Instead of Up by Adrienne Rogers is about children who are fussy eaters. There are two brothers who attempt to negotiate with their parents during mealtimes, but the dinner fairy casts a spell on them. How will they handle this situation?
This is a book that is simple to comprehend and is sure to hold the attention of any young child because it is interactive owing to the rhyming that is included in the book. In addition to this, the illustrations were a flawless representation of what the text was describing. Additionally, the content was very straightforward to read and easy to comprehend the meaning of. Sometimes some of the words are written in all capital letters and a different colour. There is also an activity at the end of the book.
It is something that I really like when authors incorporate rhymes into their books, particularly when it comes to smaller children who have difficulty sitting still when they are being read to. Both the illustrations and the attention to detail that the illustrator put into them were wonderful.
Despite the fact that I found the narrative to be enjoyable, I do not believe that the author's approach to the problem of picky eating is one that I would want to teach my child. However, this is just my viewpoint. There is a possibility that other parents would admire the manner in which the author handled the situation and agree with it; yet, this issue may merely be a matter of opinion.
I am going to give the book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars because it contains some truly remarkable rhyming and imaginative writing, as well as visuals that wonderfully illustrate the straightforward text. I took away one point for the reason that was stated above, but I still believe that youngsters will get knowledge from it and like it. There were no mistakes that I discovered, and I believe that the book has been edited to perfection.
It is my recommendation that this book be given to youngsters between the ages 3 and 8 who are often finicky eaters and require encouragement to consume a wider variety of foods.
