Stevie Tenderheart Books - Billy Jack (The Great Escape) by Steve William Laible is a children’s book full of mischievous adventure. Follow Billy Jack on his adventure of sneaking out of the house after being tucked in bed while it was still light out. Billy Jack couldn’t understand why he had to go to bed when there was still light out and he could spend the extra hours with his friends and play with them.

This book is based on a true story, and Billy Jack is a real kid. The author also added many big words to the book and explained what they meant, making this book an educational book. The book is filled with real photos of the true events that Billy Jack went through and what he also looked like. The writing is perfect for children between the ages of 8 and 12, as it has a lot of description in it.

This is the second book I have read about this author, and I found that this book was a lot more appealing than the previous one. The tone and writing were perfect for the age group it was intended for, and I quite enjoyed the banter of the author this time. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next with Billy Jack and loved how the book ended. I also appreciated that the book included big words in it with a definition.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because there was nothing to dislike. I loved the adventure and how real the story seemed, and it was a plus that it was based on true events. I found no error, making me believe that the book has been edited to perfection.

I recommend this book to boys between the ages of 8 and 12 who love adventures and do not mind getting dirty and crawling in the mud.
