Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures' by Catherine A. Pepe is not your average family story. It's about Mary Grace and her special little brother, Donny, as well as their parents. When duty calls, their parents have to go off to Africa for a couple of years. The children have to give up the comfort and stability of their city to move to an entirely different state to live with their grandparents.

The intimate bond between Mary Grace and Donny is wonderfully captured in this novel, which makes it fantastic. Their close relationship is quite charming and demonstrates how resolutely they support each other, particularly during difficult times. It's nice to watch them settle into their new life in California while their parents are away in Africa.

The way the author handled the kids' emotions in the novel with empathy and candor most pleased me. It's normal to feel sad or furious when some things happen in life. Instead of dismissing or ignoring these emotions, the author offers some answers and demonstrates to young readers that it's acceptable to feel this way. The chapters that detailed how the school's administration and instructors responded to the bullying event also left me feeling rather impressed. Regarding the book, I have nothing bad to say.

The way in which expressions and feelings are portrayed in the novel is simply remarkable. It deftly conveys the characters' awkward, angry, and happy moments so that the reader can readily identify with them. Donny was one of the characters who really stuck with me. His cheerful disposition beams through like a brilliant light. His unwavering affection for his parents, sisters, and everyone around him, together with his upbeat and accepting attitude toward life, make for a touching and enjoyable read.

The book's editing was superb. I will rate this book five out of five. Readers who enjoy delightful tales that highlight the strength of compassion and love should definitely pick up this book, in my opinion.

Hi, Onyinyechi, you crafted a wonderful review of what seems to be a delightful and uplifting book. It is nice to see that is is a story of siblings who have each other's backs. The family dynamics while they live with their grandparents during their parents' absence must have been very interesting. I like that the author also wrote into the story the subject of bullying. Thank you for this review. I am adding this book to my bookshelves. :techie-studyinggray:

I’m not a big fan of children books. However this seems like something even adult will enjoy.
