Stevie Tenderheart is a little boy with a vivid imagination and a love for exciting adventures. He adores his bed and snuggles under the covers to create fantastic dreams. However, falling asleep during the summer while the sun is bright is quite challenging for him. Therefore, he thought of an idea to help him fall asleep quicker. He decided that he could only fall asleep after receiving a second goodnight kiss. Stevie left a note on a specific tree, inviting all the animals and creatures to assist him. Soon, all kinds of creatures showed up, responding to his request. Will he be able to handle so many goodnight kisses? What will happen if the kids in the neighborhood notice the long line in front of Stevie's bedroom window?

Stevie Tenderheart Books A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story) by Steve William Laible is a novella perfect for bedtime reading. Although not illustrated, the story is highly relevant and appeals to parents and children. This humorous tale addresses bedtime challenges, promotes creativity, and encourages a positive mindset.

Bedtime can be a challenging activity for both children and parents. To help with this, a hilarious story about bedtime habits and routines can appeal to the funny side of kids, allowing parents to tuck in their little ones. This story has no images, so children can express their imaginative abilities, which fosters creativity. The story combines relatable elements, vivid descriptions, and analogies to generate mental images. There are references to iconic fairy tales, a familiar neighborhood setting, and silly pursuits such as opening a can of worms. These items do not limit the imagination but act as mental cues to get it going. The storytelling uses the third person, which makes it ideal for reading aloud. Adults can make the experience more enjoyable by using varied voices and sounds when they tell the story. Bedtime turns into a fun and unforgettable bonding experience.

The book uses fun content to teach valuable life lessons. It offers fascinating insights about animal behavior and traits, which lead to discussions about hygiene, organization, and table manners. What I liked most about the book was its emphasis on gratitude. The animals in the story give their kisses in unique ways, which helps Stevie appreciate their individuality and value what he receives. The story also encourages children to cherish everyday joys like smelling flowers and listening to the rain. It reminds them to never turn away a kiss from their parents. Finally, the book summarizes the lessons learned and includes the author's favorite quotes and images supporting his advocacy.

I have no complaints about this book. I appreciated the imaginative way it delivered its message. The editing issues are hardly noticeable, and deducting a star is unnecessary. The language is appropriate for the target audience, aged six to twelve. Children under this age range have shorter attention spans and need visuals, while those beyond this age may prefer a more sophisticated plot. Beginner readers may need adult guidance, but advanced ones can read the book independently. Children who love animals will enjoy the entertaining facts, humor, and imagination presented in the book. Parents will find the story helpful for encouraging children to go to bed, and reading it aloud will make for a fun and memorable family nighttime activity. Additionally, it is an excellent story to wrap up pajama parties and sleepovers for children. Overall, I give this book a rating of five out of five.
